A Therapist's Day

Texas Occupational Therapy Association

Occupational Therapists care for people with physical and emotional conditions. They help them develop daily living and work skills. The help the patients recieve enables them to live more independently.

Patients with a loss of function, as in amputees or disabled individuals will get help to compensate for these injuries. Specialty areas of therapy include eating disorders, drug abuse, or alcoholism.

In dealing with coordination problems, handicrafts are used to improve hand-eye coordination. Gardening and weaving increase strength and dexterity.
